Malabrigo is a relatively young brand founded in 2005. Two brothers in law started dying wool in a kitchen pot. Initially, a typical family yarn dyeing company has developed into a brand that is recognised and liked by knitters around the world. The yarn is ordered by the company mainly by women, and the company gives them a chance to help in their often difficult situation.
Malabrigo’s yarns are made with 100% Uruguayan Merino wool, which is a high quality especially in regards to softness. This wool is produced by Uruguayan farms, they allow their sheep trough the hills and are herded by shepherds. The controversial practice of mulesing does not exist in Uruguay so wool from Malabrigo company is mulesing - free.
Malabrigo colors - inspiration.
The colors are inspired by nature, landscapes, specific places as well as art or everyday life. The company believes that creating knitted fabrics from high-quality yarns gives a lot of joy and satisfaction. As with most hand-dyed yarns, not only individual batches, but even skeins of one dye can differ from each other. This is their feature, not a defect.
